The PINW Music Composition program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to help budding composers develop their craft, and when required establish a diverse and refined portfolio of compositions to use for college applications.
The foundation of music composition is a solid understanding of theory, harmony and counterpoint.
We asess the student's level in these areas and provide tutoring and educational resources in those areas. Students can participate in the Royal Conservatory (Music Development Program) exams for any level of theory (which we highly recommend), as well as academic programs offered through school like AP Music Theory.
Students are encouraged to compose works that can be performed either by the composer or another student at one of our recitals, and we assist where appropriate in helping students submit their compositions to local, state and national competitions.
We take great care and effort to match every student and family to the right teacher through interviews, consultations and trial lessons. All instructors are experienced, qualified pianists who will make sure that your child has fun, and most importantly learns the right way, avoiding bad habits that inevitably become road blocks to progress and enjoyment.
